JEE Advanced 2025 opens more IIT doors for girls with 20% supernumerary quota and 1,364 new seats across 23 IITs, says Nitin Vijay
The JEE Advanced
2025, India's gateway to premier IITs, was conducted by IIT Kanpur in two
shifts across 712 centres in 222 Indian cities and 3 global locations. With
over 1.90 lakh aspirants registered, the turnout was remarkable. The first
session saw 1,87,223 candidates appear, with 43,413 being girls and 1,43,810
boys.
But this year, there’s a
hopeful twist for female aspirants!
🎯 Nitin
Vijay, Founder & CEO of Motion Education, highlighted a positive shift,
especially for girl candidates. “Girls stand a stronger chance of securing an
IIT seat this year, thanks to the expansion in B.Tech seats and the
continuation of the 20% female supernumerary quota,” he stated.

🔚 Summary:
With over 18,500 seats and a dedicated 20% supernumerary quota for girls, JEE Advanced 2025 marks a turning point in bridging the gender gap at IITs. The inclusion of more seats and inclusive policies aims to empower more girls to enter India's top engineering institutes. While the paper posed a fair challenge, particularly in Maths and Physics, strategic preparation and policy support are helping level the field.
