CAT is just three months away now and date of exam is Nov24, 2019. CAT is digitally based test, conducts annually in a year.CAT is the mandatory exam for taking participation in admission process of IIMs. Common Admission Test or CAT scores are accepted by many other top Non-IIMs business schools such as IMT Ghaziabad, IMI Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, FMS Delhi and many more. Scoring good percentile is necessary for taking admission into top business school.CAT is being conducted once in a year in two sessions – Morning and Evening. Every year any of the IIMs conduct CAT and this year it will be conducted by IIM Kozhikode. Score of this 3 hours test will let you ahead in journey of making selection in IIMs.

CAT 2019 Exam Pattern – Highlights

Mode of ExamCAT is being conducted online.

Duration of ExamCAT will be test of 3 hours duration and conduct on single day in two sessions – Morning and Evening Shift

Type of Questions- There can be two type of question –MCQs and Non MCQs.

Section Segment – There will be three section in the exam – Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretations & Logical Reasoning (DI&LR) and Quantitative Aptitude (QA)

Negative Marking Scheme – There will be negative marking scheme of ¼ marks for wrong answer.

CAT is one of the most important exam for management aspirants to take admission into top business school and 20 IIMs. Many colleges have their own specific exam for their admission process .CAT is accepted by more than 2000 colleges in India for taking admission into management programme. But for IIMs it’s mandatory to give Common Admission Test or CAT.

Before giving any exam it’s important to know the syllabus so that you can analyse it properly to score well in exam and same goes with your CAT Exam.

CAT is conducted by any of the IIMs every year and this year IIM Kozhikode will be conducting exam .Although IIM doesn’t release any constant syllabus notification for exam but we can help you to know the detailed syllabus on the basis of past pattern of CAT Exam.

On the basis of last year’s pattern of the CAT Exam, CAT Syllabus has been classified into three sections –

  1. Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension with 34 Questions
  2. Data Interpretations & Logical Reasoning with 32 Questions
  3. Quantitative Aptitude with 34 Questions

Reading Comprehension Passage connected with Business & Economic environment like Changing environment business, Global factor changes, Government policy , Impact of budget , Impact of demonetisation , impact of Jammu & Kashmir issue, GDP Growth Rate .

Passages concerned with English literature, influencer, thinker, activist , great writers, philosophers. Speeches concerned with Great writers Mark Twain, Shakespeare, Stephen King , Ravindranath Tagore.

RC Passage associated with editorial articles also finds place in this section.

Passage related to social welfare, different schemes like clean India mission, Fit India mission, Ganga Clean Schemes, Tripal Talaq.

COMMON ADMISSION TEST 2020 -CAT 2020

CAT  is popularly known as Common Admission Test. CAT is online computer based test conducted every year annually by Indian Institute of Management on rotational basis .CAT 2020 is being conducted by IIM Indore.

CAT 2020 Exam has been scheduled on 29th November 2020. CAT 2020 will be conducted by IIMs as a prerequisite for admission to various management programs of IIMs.CAT 2020 will be conducting in three sessions   Morning, Afternoon and Evening this year rather than two as in previous years.

CAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria

CAT 2020 is the compulsory exam for taking admission into IIMs and some of the reputed & prestigious institutions like FMS Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad, SPJIMR, MDI Gurgaon etc. Candidate who is planning to apply for CAT 2020 Exam must know and fulfill all the eligibility criteria before applying for CAT 2020 Application form.

  • Age – There is no age bar for candidate.
  • Minimum Qualifying marks – Candidate must have Bachelor’s degree from any of the recognized university.
  • Minimum Percentage of Marks – Minimum percentage of marks asked in Bachelor degree for General/ OBC Candidate is 50 % and for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) category candidates is 45 %.
  • Professional Degree Holder - Candidate who have professional degrees like CA/CS/ICWA can also apply but percentage of marks required to make eligible for CAT 2020 Exam are different according to their category.
  1. General / OBC Category – 50% Marks
  2. SC/ST/Pwd Category- 45% Marks
  • Final Year Candidate – Final year candidates can also apply.
